Physical SIM or digital profile?

The format changes; the account still matters.

01

What each format does

A physical SIM is a removable card. An eSIM uses supported hardware to install a digital profile. Both identify a mobile subscription; neither description alone tells you its data amount, calling allowance or roaming entitlement.

02

Check compatibility precisely

Use the exact handset model and regional variant, not just the product family. The provider must support the account and device. A phone, tablet and watch can have different eligibility even when all contain eSIM hardware.

03

Prepare before replacing

Have a reliable connection and access to the genuine account and registered contact details. QR codes and activation credentials are private. Do not delete a functioning profile or reset the phone simply to experiment with a replacement.

04

Confirm the result

Check which line is selected for calls, messages and data. On a dual-SIM phone, background data switching can use the wrong line. Test normal service before relying on the replacement for authentication messages or travel.

Keep the next step official

General information cannot confirm personal account conditions. Read your provider’s current documents and use its official channels before making a change.

Your next step remains your decision.
